The Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment program was launched in 2017 and allows foreign investors and their family members to obtain a passport by making a non-refundable contribution to the state fund starting at $130,000.
Today it is the only program of its kind in Oceania, which, combined with all the country's other advantages, makes the offer extremely attractive.
The Vanuatu citizenship process
Obtaining citizenship and a passport is a fairly complex procedure that requires strict compliance with all established rules. Mistakes and violations can lead to significant financial losses, so without the relevant knowledge and experience it's better to leave the whole job to professionals.
In general terms, the process of obtaining Vanuatu citizenship with MIRBEZVIZ specialists looks like this:
- Preparatory stage (1 business day). A specialist reviews your situation, carries out the necessary checks, identifies potential risks of a passport-application refusal, and proposes the best ways to resolve any issues. Only a foreign passport is needed for this check, and everything can be done during an in-person meeting at our office or over the phone.
- Gathering documents (from 3 days). The investor needs to prepare the document package to be sent to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). The main items needed are a foreign passport, a certificate of no criminal record, and a CV - a short biography. Our specialists help gather and prepare all documents in line with the established requirements.
- FIU review (up to 2 weeks). The collected documents are submitted to the authorized body for an initial check on whether the applicant can take part in the citizenship-by-investment program.
- Preparing the remaining documents (up to 2 weeks). After preliminary approval, documents confirming the applicant's financial standing must be gathered. At this stage, the application for the citizenship-by-investment program is also prepared. Our specialists prepare all the documents and bring them in line with the established standards.
- Submitting the document package (up to 2 weeks). All previously gathered documents, including the application, are submitted to the authorized government body. They are then reviewed by the Screening Committee and the Citizenship Commission. At this stage the applicant must pay 25% of the required investment amount.
- Approval and fulfilling the investment condition (up to 90 days). After receiving notice of a positive decision on the application, the investor must transfer the remaining 75% of the amount. 90 days are allowed for this payment.
- Oath and passport issuance (up to 2 weeks). Once the final payment is confirmed by the bank, the Citizenship Commission instructs that a new passport be produced for the applicant. Before receiving the document, an official Oath of Allegiance must be taken. This does not require a personal visit to Vanuatu - the oath can be taken online, via Zoom.
On average, with skilled professional handling, the whole process takes up to 2 months. You do not need to visit the country, since the entire application and review procedure is conducted remotely.
Cost
To obtain Vanuatu citizenship, a non-refundable contribution (donation) must be made to the local development fund, which implements Vanuatu's Development Support Program (DSP).
The investment amount depends on the number of applicants applying for citizenship:
- single applicant - $130,000;
- married couple - $150,000;
- married couple with one child - $165,000;
- married couple with two children - $180,000;
- each additional family member - $10,000.
In addition, a comprehensive Due Diligence check by Vanuatu's financial intelligence unit must be paid for. Due Diligence costs $5,000 per applicant. An additional processing fee is charged per person for application-related expenses - $2,000 for 1-4 applicants, $1,000 if there are more than 5 applicants. Organizing the oath remotely costs $5,000 per family.
The applicant separately covers agency service fees, the specialists' work, bank commissions, and other related expenses. The cost of our services is determined on an individual basis and is discussed following an initial consultation. We ensure transparent, understandable pricing with no hidden fees or commissions.
